The aggressor country russia suffered a fiasco in Syria, as it eliminated the leader of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, who built a system of influence of the russian federation in the Middle East and Africa.
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andrii Kovalenko, reported this on his Telegram channel.
Kovalenko noted that by fleeing Syria, the russian federation lost not only a key zone of influence in the Middle East, but also logistical bases.
"The main reason for russia's fiasco in Syria is putin's destruction of prigozhin and the Wagner Group as such. It was prigozhin who built a system of russian influence in the Middle East and Africa for years. Syria was the key to Africa thanks to the russian bases and the fleet's entry into the Mediterranean Sea. Putin got scared and killed prigozhin, after which the whole system collapsed," the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation wrote.
According to him, from now on the role of the aggressor in Africa will also weaken. Russia is already trying to place responsibility on Iran for the "drain" of Syria, which proves that the "axis of evil" belongs only to a club of interests, and not to a full-fledged alliance. According to Kovalenko, the events in Syria do not affect russia's ability to wage war against Ukraine, since the economy of the aggressor country is already overheating, and without mobilization they will not be able to.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the offensive by opposition groups led to the fact that the aggressor country russia was forced to evacuate warships from the port in the city of Tartus in western Syria.
On December 6, Sky News Arabia wrote that russia informed Assad about "other priorities" instead of helping Syria.
On December 8, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine stated that russia was withdrawing ships from the base in Tartus and transferring the remaining weapons by aircraft from Hmeimim.
