The Google search service presented a traditional annual review of the most popular search queries of Ukrainians in 2024, which clearly demonstrates information trends and interests of society, Google Blog reports.
"Google traditionally summarizes the year and presents a rating of the most popular search queries of Ukrainian users. We analyzed the popularity of which search queries in various categories grew the most over the year, and identified the topics that most interested Ukrainians during 2024," the company noted.
Top search queries of the year
The most requested topic was "Power outage schedule", which reflects the current challenges of energy security. The second place was taken by the query "Euro 2024", dedicated to the main football tournament in Europe, and the top three are closed by the name "Syrskyi" - the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
People who aroused the greatest interest
The undisputed leader among the personalities was the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. Ukrainians were also actively interested in athlete Oleksandr Usyk, foreign politicians Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Cultural trends
In cinema, the most popular was the documentary film "20 Days in Mariupol". Other notable films include "Inside Out 2", "Dune 2" and the Ukrainian mystical film "The Witch of Konotop".
Interesting search queries
Ukrainians were interested in the meaning of abbreviations such as MSEC [medical and social expert commission], EW [electronic warfare], TsNAP [Administrative Services Center], as well as unusual words such as "slagheaps" and "quadrobers".
Shopping and tech-trends
The greatest demand was observed for energy solutions: EcoFlow, charging stations, inverters and solar panels. Among the unexpected favorites are Dubai chocolate and squash toys (popular anti-stress toys).
Sad pages of the year
The list of losses includes famous personalities, including linguist Iryna Farion, russian politician Alexei Navalny, and French actor Alain Delon.
As previously reported, last year the person most often Googled by Ukrainians was the current Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov. Also, from the territory of Ukraine, blogger Spartak Subota, Oleksii Arestovych, Oleksandr Usyk, and even russian president vladimir putin were often asked on Google.
