After the war, everyone must surrender their declared weapons.
This was said by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
He noted that today it is difficult to calculate how many weapons people have in their hands.
According to him, even if half a million units are too many.
"Therefore, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a relevant decision on weapons and for a week we have been offering people and conducting an information campaign on declaring weapons. What does this mean? I received some weapons before the war or during the war, I come to the police department at my place of residence, the weapons are registered at the base and I go home with them," Klymenko explained.
The Minister emphasized that after the war, everyone must surrender all these weapons within 90 days.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the weapon permit will be displayed in the Diia mobile application by the end of January 2025.
For more than a year of operation of the Unified Weapons Registry, which began operating on June 23, 2023, police agencies have received more than 483,000 applications for various types of permits, and police officers have made more than 469,000 decisions to issue permits. On June 23, 2023, the Unified Weapons Registry came into operation in Ukraine.
