Russia loses munitions advantage at frontline - Sky News

The number of artillery shells fired by aggressor country of russia against Ukrainian positions has dropped significantly, to 1.5 shells for every Ukrainian shell fired in response, Sky News reported on Friday, December 6, citing Western officials.

Previously, the russian occupiers fired at least five times more artillery shells than Ukraine, and sometimes even more, the publication wrote. Western officials attribute this leveling to a "wide range of factors."

"These factors include limitations on russian defense production lines, difficulties in transporting more shells to the frontline by rail, and Ukrainian drone strikes on strategic russian and North Korean ammunition stockpiles on russian territory," the report said.

In their opinion, Western ammunition supplies are helping to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 19, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Berlin would cover the costs of 180,000 shells as part of the Czech initiative to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine.

In addition, the European Commission has allocated EUR 500 million to increase the production of ammunition for both Ukraine and the EU.

As a reminder, on June 25, it became known that the first batch of ammunition had arrived in Ukraine as part of the Czech initiative.
