Cabinet approves appointment of 4 independent members of Ukrenergo supervisory board

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the appointment of four independent members of the supervisory board of the Ukrenergo national energy company.

This is stated in the company's statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The statement says that they are Patrick Roland Graichen, Luigi de Francisci, Jeppe Sebastian Kofod, and Jan Henrik Montell.

Patrick Roland Graichen is a well-known European expert on climate and energy issues.

Previously, he worked as a State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, where he played a key role in shaping national energy strategies.

Prior to that, for ten years, he headed the leading European think tank Agora Energy Transition, where he made significant efforts to promote energy transformation and sustainable development strategies in the EU.

Luigi de Francisci - was responsible for regulatory affairs at TERNA, the Italian electricity transmission system operator, the largest in Europe.

He also held the position of Vice President of the Montenegrin CGES and was a member of the ENTSO-E Management Board for more than six years.

Luigi already held the position of Independent Member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo in the period 2019-2021, responsible for the strategic transformation that resulted in the successful connection to the European electricity grid and entry into ENTSO-E.

Jeppe Sebastian Kofod is a well-known European politician and expert in the field of energy and security issues.

He has significant experience in public administration as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (from 2018 to 2022), as well as experience as a member of the European Parliament and the Danish Parliament.

In total, he has over 25 years of experience in European diplomacy, a deep understanding of the energy market and regulatory specifics, and a strong network of connections in international politics.

Jan Henrik Montell has a successful combination of both corporate governance and the position of CFO of the Finnish electricity transmission system operator.

At Fingrid, he was responsible for strategic finance, digitalization, investments, financing and risk management for more than eight years.

Before that, Jan Montell worked as a partner at the international auditing company KPMG and has valuable experience as a member of the board of Nord Pool, the Scandinavian energy exchange.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Economy expects the appointment of all independent members of the supervisory board of the Ukrenergo national energy company by December 9.

By decision of the supervisory board of NEC Ukrenergo, the company's head Volodymyr Kudrytskyi was dismissed from his position on September 2.

On September 3, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, Daniel Dobbeni, and Supervisory Board member Peder Andreasen decided to terminate their powers due to the unjustified dismissal of the company's CEO, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.
