Germany will deliver two additional IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine by the end of the year, including the medium-range SLM and short-range SLS models.
German Major General Christian Freuding, head of the Bundeswehr's Situation Center Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense announced this to journalists in Kyiv on November 25, European Pravda reports.
"The next IRIS-T SLM (medium-range) and SLS (short-range) systems should arrive in Ukraine in the coming days and weeks, before Christmas," Freuding said.
He added that Berlin's support for Ukraine will continue after Christmas and the federal elections in Germany on February 23.
Recall that on November 13, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, said that Ukraine would receive a German IRIS-T air defense system.
And in October it became known that Germany had transferred two IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine.
We also reported that in September Ukraine received a military aid package from Germany, which included 22 Leopard 1 tanks.
