Cabinet approves plan for implementing Maritime Security Strategy, which provides for de-occupation of temporarily occupied coast and continental shelf of Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a plan for implementing the Maritime Security Strategy, which provides for the de-occupation of the temporarily occupied coast, internal waters and continental shelf of Ukraine.

This was announced by the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

According to the plan, the main tasks are to increase the capabilities of the security and defense sector, the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Maritime Guard of the State Border Guard Service to counter aggression and respond to other threats.

The plan also provides for the development of the national maritime industry, inland water transport and the restoration of maritime and river infrastructure damaged as a result of hostilities.

Special attention is paid to overcoming the consequences of hostilities, man-made and environmental disasters, as well as preventing pollution of the Azov and Black Seas and rivers.

"It is expected that the implementation of the plan will contribute to ensuring stable security in the Black and Azov Seas, as well as strengthening Ukraine's position as a maritime state," the report says.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of July 17 "On the Maritime Security Strategy of Ukraine."

The Cabinet of Ministers, with the involvement of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service, has been instructed to develop and approve a plan of measures to implement the Maritime Security Strategy within three months.
