Russia fired intermediate-range ballistic missile, not intercontinental ballistic missile, at Ukraine – Wester

The aggressor country russia used a medium-range ballistic missile, not an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), to strike Ukraine, two U.S. officials told Reuters, citing an initial analysis.

Western officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said russia did not use intercontinental ballistic missiles to strike Ukraine.

"Russia did not use an intercontinental ballistic missile in its attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday, two Western officials told Reuters, contradicting official information from Ukraine," the report said.

The publication writes that their assessment is based on an initial analysis and leaves open the possibility that the conclusion may change.

The agency noted that the difference between an ICBM and an intermediate-range ballistic missile is the distance they can travel. According to the U.S. Arms Control Association, intermediate-range ballistic missiles travel from 3,000 to 5,500 km, while intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) travel over 5,500 km.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 21, the Air Forces announced that in the morning the occupiers launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, a Kh-47M2 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile, and 7 Kh-101 cruise missiles over Dnipro.

On November 21, Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said that russian dictator vladimir putin was trying to raise the stakes by launching an intercontinental missile over Ukraine.

Besides, on November 21, Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi stated that Ukraine is awaiting expert conclusions to determine the exact type of missile with which the occupiers attacked the city of Dnipro in the morning.
