Ukraine strikes russian territory with British Storm Shadow for first time – Bloomberg

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have used British cruise missiles for the first time on military targets in the territory of the aggressor country, russia, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, November 20.

Ukraine has expanded its use of long-range weapons provided by the West, Bloomberg informs, citing a Western official. According to the publication, Britain approved the use of Storm Shadow missiles in response to the involvement by russia of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine. The British government viewed moscow's actions as an escalation, Bloomberg noted.

"The strike came a day after Ukraine deployed US-made Army Tactical Missile Systems, known as ATACMS, for the first time to strike a military facility in the western Bryansk region. It followed the decision by President Joe Biden’s administration to approve Kyiv’s limited use of the weapons to hit targets inside Russia," the material says.

British Secretary of State for Defence John Healey stated in parliament that his country would double its support for Ukraine and intends to do more.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 17, the American newspaper The New York Times wrote that the current U.S. President Biden had allowed Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike russian territory.

On the night of November 18-19, a series of explosions occurred in the city of Karachev, Bryansk Oblast, the aggressor country of russia, where a large arsenal of russian army ammunition was located.

The russian Defense Ministry stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly launched six ATACMS missiles.
