Zelenskyy and Tusk agree to meet by yearend

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk agreed to meet by the end of this year.

Zelenskyy announced this on the Telegram channel, talking about a telephone conversation with Tusk, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Zelenskyy thanked Tusk for his personal principled reaction to the latest russian shelling and attempts to end the political isolation of russian dictator vladimir putin.

They discussed the continuation of defense cooperation. Tusk reported that Poland is preparing the 45th support package for transfer and has already begun work on the next defense package.

Zelenskyy and Tusk shared expectations from Poland's presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of next year. Zelenskyy expressed hope for Poland's support in the negotiation process with the EU on the opening of the first cluster of negotiations and the parallel opening of other clusters.

Separately, Zelenskyy thanked Tusk for using his extensive personal contacts to advocate for Ukraine's accession to NATO and for continuing defense support for Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Tusk, after the massive russian attack on Ukraine on November 17, said that telephone diplomacy with russian dictator putin was not working, and the coming weeks would be crucial. This was his response to a telephone conversation between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and putin on November 15.

In November, the first volunteers of the Ukrainian Legion in Poland signed contracts and began basic military training.
