The aggressor country of russia has launched over a thousand missiles at Ukraine's energy system in a thousand days of full-scale war to plunge the country into a complete blackout.
This was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Energy on Tuesday, November 19.
The Ministry of Energy emphasized that russia continues to attack electricity generation and transmission facilities in order to destroy the energy system. According to the aggressor's plan, Ukrainians should sit in the cold and darkness, the department emphasized.
"During the full-scale invasion, the enemy fired more than 1,000 missiles at Ukraine's power system. Russian troops occupied more than 18 GW of capacity, including the largest in Europe, the Zaporizhzhia NPP. In 2024, the enemy destroyed and damaged more than 9 GW of capacity. This is equal to the peak consumption of countries such as the Netherlands or Finland," the report says.
On the night of February 24, 2022, Ukraine disconnected from the russian and Belarusian power systems, and on March 16, 2022, it joined the European ENTSO-E, the Ministry of Energy reminded. More than EUR 700 million were allocated to restore power facilities. Also, more than 19,000 tons of humanitarian aid were transferred to Ukraine from 36 countries of the world to stabilize the power system.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, November 19 marks 1,000 days since the start of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
During this time, the occupation army has suffered losses of over USD 76 billion.
As a reminder, on November 17, russia launched a massive combined strike on Ukraine's energy facilities with air-, ground- and sea-based missiles, as well as Shahed-type strike drones.
