In russia, training on disconnection from global Internet planned for December - media

The government of the aggressor country of russia is preparing to conduct exercises to disconnect several regions of the country from the global Internet.

The russian portal CNews wrote about this on November 14.

CNews refers to the warning of the Central Bank of the russian federation, which it sent to controlled organizations.

According to the document, in December of this year, Roskomnadzor intends to conduct exercises during which the scenario of disconnection of russia from access to the worldwide Internet would be worked out.

The purpose of these exercises is allegedly to confirm the readiness of the "russian Internet" to ensure the operability of key services in the event of deliberate external influence.

In addition, the authorities of the russian federation want to identify information systems, the efficiency of which directly depends on interaction with resources located outside the "russian Internet".

It is currently unknown in which regions Roskomnadzor is going to conduct training on shutting down the global Internet.

It is claimed that ordinary network users will not be affected by these exercises.

The text of the letter from the Central Bank of the russian federation was published by the russian journalist Dmitry Kolezev.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September of this year, German Klimenko, the head of the Council of the russian Digital Economy Development Fund, said that alegedly in three to five months YouTube will be completely blocked in the russian federation.

Back in August 2024, the russian mass media reported that the authorities of the russian federation had warned telecommunications operators about slowing down YouTube.

Plans to first slow down and then block YouTube became known in mid-July. In this way, the Kremlin wants to force russians to switch to domestic platforms that are easier to censor.
