Duda names condition under which Ukraine could receive MiG-29 from Poland

Poland may consider transferring its MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, if NATO provides additional air support at Polish bases.

According to Polsat News, Polish President Andrzej Duda discussed the transfer of MiG-29 with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Duda emphasized that the main condition for the transfer of aircraft is the protection of Poland's airspace by allied forces.

"We still have one squadron of MiG-29s, there is a solution for this. Now we use MiG-29s that carry out our missions. If we hand them over to Ukraine, there is one fundamental condition, namely, our skies must be protected." Duda noted.

He also emphasized that Poland provides significant support to Ukraine as a transit hub and an important infrastructure link, without which it would be much more difficult for Ukraine to ensure its defense.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on November 1, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded to the words of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Poland did not hand over the rest of its MiG aircraft and did not want to shoot down missiles of the aggressor country russia over Ukraine.

On November 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine commented on the words of Polish Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Digitalization Krzysztof Gawkowski, who accused Zelenskyy of trying to drag Poland into a war with the aggressor country russia.
