Ukrenergo preparing scenarios for the hardest winter in Ukraine in 3 years

The Ukrenergo national energy company is considering three scenarios for the winter, which will be the hardest for Ukraine in the previous three years.

The acting head of Ukrenergo, Oleksii Brekht, told about this in an interview with the Karpyak on Suspilne project.

According to him, Ukrenergo has a plan to restore the lost generating capacities, which are equal to the nightly electricity consumption of Ukraine in the summer or the summer consumption of the Netherlands. The company is considering three options for passing the winter, taking into account the possibility of attacks by the aggressor country on the country's energy facilities, such as generation facilities, grids, infrastructure, Brekht noted. The worst scenario considered by Ukrenergo is massive shelling of generation facilities, he emphasized.

"Under the conditions of this scenario, with the amount of electricity imports that we already have today, we can have restrictions on the power of electricity on critical, cold days, in the amount of two queues of outage schedules, no more. That is, up to 8 hours," Brekht said.

In the spring, Ukraine lost 9 GW of generating capacity, recalled the acting head of Ukrenergo.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 10, the Ukrenergo national energy company reported that it had accumulated three times more necessary repair equipment as part of preparations for winter.

On September 10, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine is currently the country with the most generators in the world.

At the beginning of September, Shmyhal reported that the readiness of protective structures at Ukrenergo facilities is more than 85%.
