South Korea has said that North Korea's State Cyber Unit, which includes about 8,400 hackers, has carried out about 15,000 attacks on South Korea this year.
This was reported by the South Korean Cyber Operations Command, Yonhap reports.
A North Korean hacking group is said to have stepped up its cyberattacks on South Korea's defense sector, targeting military facilities and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration through phishing emails and malware.
The department cited data showing that the number of attempted hacking attacks rose steadily, from about 9,000 cases in 2022 and 13,000 in 2023, reaching about 15,000 in the first nine months of this year.
At the same time, it is noted that the results of the study indicate that no serious violations occurred.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, meanwhile, South Korea is considering the possibility of sending a group of military observers to Ukraine to observe and analyze russia's expected deployment of North Korean troops on the front line.
