The Rheinmetall military plant responded to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov's threats that their facility, which opened in Ukraine in late October, could become a target for russian attacks and stated that it was not the first time it had received such threats from russia.
This is reported by the Voice of America.
So, the German company said that this is not the first such threat from Moscow, and their facilities in Ukraine are well protected.
In July, the company announced that it plans to open four military plants on Ukrainian territory. According to the head of the German concern, Armin Papperger, the first plant intends to produce a batch of Lynx infantry fighting vehicles.
"Now we have a production plant and a maintenance plant. By the end of the year, we will already have the first ultra-modern Lynx infantry fighting vehicle in Ukraine. At the moment, we are servicing infantry fighting vehicles, but also main battle tanks," he emphasized.
In particular, the second Rheinmetall plant is planned to open in the near future. The company also plans to open a gunpowder plant, a tank ammunition plant in Ukraine, as well as establish the production of air defense systems.
"The transition to localized production of Western-style equipment in Ukraine is intended not only to reduce restrictions in the supply chain, but also to increase the stability of the Ukrainian defense industry," the publication emphasizes.
Compliance with the standards of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ensures that the equipment and technology produced will be compatible with Western military systems. This contributes to the further integration of Ukraine into the wider European defense system.
It will be recalled that earlier Ukraine ordered eight advanced surgical stations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the German concern Rheinmetall.
At the beginning of June 2024, it became known that the Rheinmetall enterprise for the production and repair of armored vehicles became operational in Ukraine.
Ukrainian specialists work at the joint production site, and technical supervision is carried out by representatives of the German partner.
