Third incident in a week. Two russian drones fly into Romania at night, fighter jets raised

On the night of October 24, Romania's radar systems detected two separate signals, likely from drones that violated the country's airspace. The country raised fighter jets, but the objects were not detected. This is the third such incident in less than a week.

This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of Romania, Reuters reports.

Thus, both signals were recorded by radars with a difference of less than one hour over the southeastern counties of Constanța and Tulcea, the latter of which borders Ukraine across the Danube River.

It is indicated that two F-16 fighter jets were raised in the air to observe small flying objects - most likely, individual drones. At the same time, the planes did not make visual contact with any of them before the radars lost their signals.

Also, two drones were detected by radar systems that violated Romanian airspace on two different days last week. However, the fighters could not see them, and the places of fall were not identified.

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu told reporters that these incidents could be examples of cyber interference.

Last year, the fall of UAV wreckage after russian attacks on the territory of Ukraine was repeatedly recorded. However, fears of an escalation grew in September, when the airspace of Romania and Latvia was violated by russian drones.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the russian occupiers are carrying out an air attack on Ukraine from the evening of October 23 to the morning of October 24. The enemy used two Kh-22 cruise missiles, two Kh-59 guided air missiles and 50 Shahed-type attack UAVs.
