Ukraine can defeat russia even without permission for long-range strikes – US Defense Secretary

U.S. Secretary Minister Lloyd Austin believes that Ukraine does not necessarily need to use American long-range weapons to defeat russia.

He said this in an interview with Fox News.

Austin noted that russia has already moved the aircraft it uses to launch guided-bomb strikes beyond the range of the ATACMS system.

"I think they (Ukrainians) have the ability to continue to conduct long range strikes, and they will," Austin said.

"Ukraine has a lot of capability that we provided in terms of drones," he added.

The head of the Pentagon emphasized that Ukrainians also have the opportunity to produce their own drones.

"They're highly effective. As a matter of fact, we've seen them conduct attacks or operations that are some 400 kilometers beyond … the border and even further," he said.

He also assured that he believes in the victory of Ukraine and offered his definition of victory.

"Ukraine absolutely can win. And we define winning as Ukraine being a sovereign state that can defend its territory and deter aggression in the future," the head of the Pentagon said.

Recall that Zelenskyy's Victory Plan provides for the lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range weapons on the territory of russia.
