Zelenskyy defines first step towards peace negotiations with russia

A mutual cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure facilities can be the first step on the way to ending the hot phase of the russian-Ukrainian war.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this, the Financial Times reports.

According to the head of state, when it comes to energy and freedom of navigation, getting a result on these points would be a signal that russia might be ready to end the war.

Zelenskyy is sure that if moscow and Kyiv agree to stop attacks on infrastructure facilities, it will be a significant step on the way to de-escalating the conflict.

"We saw during the first (Peace - Ed.) summit that a decision could be made on energy security. In other words: we don't attack their energy infrastructure, they don't attack ours. Could this lead to the end of the hot phase of the war? I I think so," he said.

Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine is now raising the issue of security guarantees, including NATO, in conversations with Western partners.

"In all discussions, we now raise the issue of security guarantees, and the strongest of them is NATO," the President said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 18, russian dictator vladimir putin stated that the aggressor country russia is allegedly ready for negotiations with Ukraine, but only on the basis of the so-called "Istanbul" agreements.

Meanwhile, the media believe that russian dictator vladimir putin will not stop hostilities against Ukraine and will not sit down at the negotiating table while his troops advance and make some progress in capturing territories.
