Russian aggressors were able to penetrate the defense line in the area of the city of Chasiv Yar in the Donetsk Region. But it is not about the loss of the city.
This was said by a representative of the press service of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, Ivan Petrychak, on telethon broadcast.
"Unfortunately, the enemy managed to penetrate our defense line, but there is no mention of a critical failure and the loss of Chasiv Yar. Fierce battles are going on now," he said.
According to Petrychak, the situation remained tense during the last month and the enemy stormed every day.
"The sun is shining during the day, it is raining at night and in the evening, so there was heavy fog, and the occupiers once again used the change in weather to their advantage to cross the canal (it is about the concrete channel of the Siverskyi Donets - Donbas canal - ed.). Now it is blocked, work on localization is ongoing, and now all forces of the brigade are determined to destroy the occupier in the square where it is currently blocked," the representative of the 24th brigade said.
He assesses the situation in the brigade's area of responsibility as critically difficult, because the enemy is many times superior in numbers. However, the defense of the city continues.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 20, 197 combat clashes took place at the front, most of them in the Kurakhove (59 clashes) and Pokrovsk (46 clashes) Axes.
