Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers discovered russian-made weapons among Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon.
Netanyahu said this in an interview with the French publication Le Figaro.
During the interview, Netanyahu and the publication's representative discussed a series of recent incidents in which the IDF attacked United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) facilities, as well as the warnings issued by several European countries in this regard.
Netanyahu stated that Israel has nothing against UNIFIL peacekeepers, regretting that the mechanisms provided for in UN Security Council Resolution 1701 of 2006 have never been put into effect.
He reminded that according to this resolution, only weapons of the Lebanese army can be located south of the Litani River in Lebanon.
Netanyahu emphasized that "Hezbollah" dug hundreds of tunnels and hideouts in this area. There, the Israeli military discovered "a large number of the latest Russian weapons."
The day before, information appeared on the Internet that IDF servicemen discovered russian-made weapons at Hezbollah facilities in southern Lebanon.
Warehouses with weapons were studied by experts of the Israeli Alma research center.
They identified hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers, 9М133 Kornet missiles and portable Igla-S anti-aircraft missile systems. The weapons discovered by the Israeli military were produced in the russian federation between 2015 and 2021.
The Israeli military also photographed a container found in one of Hezbollah's weapons caches. An inscription in russian is visible on the box, which indicates that the cargo was intended for the Ministry of Defense of Syria.
Alma emphasized that these findings testify to the close cooperation of russia, Iran, Syria and the Hezbollah group.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 11, the U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin called on Israel to ensure the security of the UNIFIL mission against the background of information about the shelling of peacekeepers by the IDF.
Recall that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine also commented on the attacks by the IDF on representatives of the UNIFIL in southern Lebanon.
