German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke in favor of diplomatic negotiations with the aggressor country of russia in order to end the full-scale war unleashed by Moscow against Ukraine.
According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), Scholz said this while speaking in the Bundestag.
According to him, Germany will continue to provide active support to Ukraine in its defense campaign against russia. However, he also wants to do everything possible to end the war as quickly as possible.
Scholz recalled the numerous victims on the Ukrainian side, as well as the fact that, at the same time, countless russian soldiers are daily victims of the "imperialist madness" of the russian dictator.
"That is why in recent years we have repeatedly organized peace conferences <...> As it was announced at the last conference in Switzerland, another conference should be held, in which Russia will also participate <...> But never through the head of Ukraine and only in coordination with our closest partners," the Chancellor said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 1, the German publication Die Zeit wrote with reference to its own sources that Scholz wants to have a telephone conversation with dictator vladimir putin. It will be the first conversation in the last two years.
It will be recalled that at the end of September, Scholz once again stated that Berlin has no intention of lifting Ukraine's restrictions on the use of German weapons for strikes deep into the territory of the russian federation.
And at the beginning of September, La Repubblica wrote that Scholz is allegedly working on his own "peace plan", which involves giving up a number of territories by Ukraine.
