Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said that after the cancellation of daylight saving time, Ukraine will never live in the same time zone with the russian federation.
He told about this in an interview with Ukrainian News Agency.
"Ukraine will never again live in the same time zone with the russian federation... In the summer, we live with russia in the same time zone. And so, after we have our own Kyiv time zone, we will live with Europe for six months in time zone," said the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.
According to him, canceling the shift of the clock hand is a matter of comfort for a person, and not of some other things, in particular energy.
"All these cries that it will significantly strengthen or weaken our energy capacity are also untrue, because literally at the last hour of questions to the government, the Minister of Energy clearly said that it will not have a dramatic impact... When we talk about energy consumption, no one, not a single ministry, not a single academy of sciences has calculations that somehow it affects the economy. And you know, even when I said that "its benefit is unproven, but its harm is obvious," he explained.
He reminded that in 2019 there was a decision of the European Parliament recommending all countries to abandon the seasonal change of clocks.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada canceled the transition to summer time in Ukraine.
