US pressuring Zelenskyy to start conscripting men aged 18-25 in Ukraine — Leshchenko

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is under pressure from American politicians, who are urging him to lower the conscription age and start mobilizing 18-year-olds.

Serhii Leshchenko, adviser to the head of the President's Office, wrote about this.

According to him, representatives of both American parties are asking Zelenskyy why there is no mobilization of men aged 18 to 25 in Ukraine.

"The partners' argument is as follows: when there was a U.S. war in Vietnam, they were taken there from the age of 19. That is why the Americans hint: Western weapons alone are not enough, mobilization is needed from the age of 18," Leshchenko wrote.

He also wrote that President Zelenskyy "didn't sell out", continuing to convince Democrats and Republicans to provide military aid without changing the conscription age.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in August of this year, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Fedir Venislavskyi said that Western partners periodically raise the issue of lowering the conscription age in Ukraine.

We will remind you that on October 9, the parliament adopted a bill that stopped the mobilization of men with limited fitness under the age of 25.
