Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk, Member of Parliament from Servant of the People, deputy head of the committee on finance, tax and customs policy, is convinced that the authorities will still have to raise the VAT rate - either at the end of this year or in the next.
She told journalists about this, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"I think that sooner or later at the end of this year or next year we will come to the point where we will still raise VAT," she said.
According to her, a discussion is ongoing in the Verkhovna Rada regarding the need to replace the increase in the military fee to 5% with the introduction of an increased VAT rate.
Vasylevska-Smahliuk believes that it is wrong that now the Verkhovna Rada is raising the military fee, and then the VAT rate will have to be raised separately.
"I appealed to the Ministry of Finance with an initiative, either we will do everything now, or let's not torture the population gradually," she explained her position.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, the head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, assures that an increase in taxes will be enough to cover the state budget deficit in 2024, but next year the new needs may appear.
