As of today, October 2, more than 30,000 Hasidic pilgrims have arrived in Uman (Cherkasy Region) to celebrate Rosh Hashanah.
This was reported by the United Jewish Community of Ukraine.
Another 14,000 Hasidim could not reach Uman. Some of them are due to yesterday's massive shelling of Israel by Iran and the closure of airspace and cancellation of flights.
Public safety and order in Uman are monitored by the police, military personnel of the National Guard of Ukraine, rescuers of the State Emergency Service, the medical service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other services. Ukrainian policemen are on guard together with 16 Israeli colleagues.
As it is known, every year pilgrims from Israel and other countries come to Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year at the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.
As previously reported, the United Jewish Community of Ukraine with reference to the Charitable Foundation "Historical and Cultural Center of the City of Uman" noted that this year Uman expects about 30,000 Hasidic pilgrims who will come to celebrate the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah).
