The Franco-German defense concern KNDS will produce 155-mm artillery ammunition and repair equipment in Ukraine.
This was announced by the Ministry of Defense, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to the report, the KNDS concern opened a representative office in Kyiv. The newly created company KNDS Ukraine LLC and Ukrainian industry will jointly produce 155-mm artillery ammunition in Ukraine.
The company's activities will also focus on providing maintenance and repair of KNDS production equipment, in particular, Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks, CAESAR and PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery systems, as well as AMX 10RC armored vehicles.
"In addition to military equipment, the production of 155 mm projectiles at our enterprises is critically important. And I am sure that together we will be able to implement many important initiatives to strengthen security in Ukraine and Europe as a whole," said Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov.
It is noted that in the future the company will engage in full-scale production of individual weapons systems on the territory of Ukraine.
According to KNDS, the Ukrainian Armed Forces already use or have contracted almost 800 units of the concern's equipment and weapons, which makes the company one of the key industrial partners of Ukraine in the field of defense.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in September, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported that today every second piece of ammunition on the front is Ukrainian-made.
In June, the arms manufacturer KNDS (a joint venture between the German firm Krauss-Maffei Wegmann and the French Nexter Defense Systems) announced the creation of a subsidiary in Ukraine.
