Mustafa Nayyem will fight corruption for money of USA and Great Britain

The former head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure, Mustafa Nayyem, will work in the US-British anti-corruption project Promoting Integrity in the Public Sector Activity as a senior adviser on the fight against corruption and infrastructure reconstruction.

Nayyem wrote about this on Facebook.

According to him, the project is financed by the governments of the United States and Great Britain and is aimed at increasing the capacity of state anti-corruption bodies, strengthening the mechanisms for preventing corruption in local self-government bodies, and introducing standards of transparency and accountability in the process of infrastructure restoration.

"I am now done with the public service. But the experience I have gained will be invaluable in my current role with the Pro-Integrity team, where I will focus on developing and implementing effective anti-corruption mechanisms, ensuring transparency in the rehabilitation of infrastructure and increasing the capacity of public and local authorities," Nayyem wrote.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 10, Nayyem wrote an application for dismissal from the position of the head of the Agency for Reconstruction.

According to him, the decision was made independently "due to systemic obstacles that do not provide further opportunities to effectively exercise their powers."

Prior to this, the EU representation in Ukraine expressed concern about the Agency's failure to use EUR 150 million for energy infrastructure repairs, and this is not the first case of "inefficient management".

A total of UAH 195.7 billion was allocated to the Agency in the state budget for the period of 2023-2024. In 2023, of the allocated UAH 130.4 billion, only UAH 82 billion were used, and UAH 48.4 billion were not used by the Recovery Agency and returned to the state budget.
