Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry issues statement in connection with Israel's operation in Lebanon

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on Israel and Lebanon to exercise maximum restraint in order to prevent the conflict from escalating into a large-scale regional war amid the worsening situation.

This is stated in the official statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

"Ukraine is following with concern the development of the events in the Republic of Lebanon, particularly in the context of the decision of the State of Israel to launch a limited ground operation on the territory of Lebanon. Strongly condemning the rocket attacks on the territory of Israel by the Hezbollah group, Ukraine calls on the parties to the conflict to exercise maximum restraint in order to prevent the conflict from developing into a large-scale regional war," the message says.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted that the increase in the number of refugees and internally displaced persons in Lebanon, who were forced to leave their homes in recent days due to the ongoing military conflict, is of particular concern.

"It is necessary to put an end to the violence in the region as soon as possible. A peaceful and prosperous Lebanon is a guarantee of stability for all the countries of the Middle East," the department added.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on September 30, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said that in the coming days, the Israeli army will begin a new phase of the military operation against Lebanon.

Meanwhile, according to the Reuters news agency, Lebanese troops abandoned a number of positions in southern Lebanon due to information about a possible ground offensive by the IDF.
