Russia has finances to continue war for quite long time - Hetmantsev

The financial potential of the russian federation to continue the war against Ukraine is sufficient for a fairly long period.

Danylo Hetmantsev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People faction, head of the parliamentary committee on finance, tax and customs policy, told about this in an interview with the Ukrainian News Agency.

"There is no need to indulge in illusions and count on the fact that russia is ready to collapse tomorrow due to the fact that it will not have finances. They have finances. They have a very serious resource cushion that is able to support them for quite a long time," he explained.

According to him, according to the calculations of German experts, in the first half of 2024, RUB 5.3 trillion (USD 57 billion) were allocated from the federal budget of the russian federation to military expenditures, which is 36% more than in the first half of 2023.

At the same time, only the oil and gas revenues of the russian budget in 2024 should amount to RUB 11 trillion, covering all the costs of the war with a reserve.

Hetmantsev noted that in the draft budget of the russian federation for next year, expenditures on war will be even greater - RUB 13.2 trillion (USD 142 billion), which is 200% more than their 2022 military budget.

The russians expect to cover the additional increased expenses for the war (+RUB 2.4 trillion) due to the increase in the income tax on the income of individuals and the tax on the profit of enterprises, Hetmantsev said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Hetmantsev does not expect disruptions in the provision of finances to the military and state employees (those whose work is paid from the country's budget funds, in particular, teachers, doctors) in Ukraine.
