During the meeting in New York (U.S.), President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with the President of Vietnam To Lam the development of bilateral relations and participation in the restoration of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"In New York, I met with the President of Vietnam To Lam. We talked about the development of bilateral relations and the increase in trade between our countries, in particular in the agricultural industry. Thank you for your humanitarian support and willingness to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war," he said.
The Office of the President reports that during the meeting, Zelenskyy said that Ukrainians need the voice of Vietnam to restore a just peace.
The main topics of the meeting are the development of bilateral relations and the increase of turnover, in particular in the agricultural industry.
To Lam noted that in 2022, the trade turnover with Ukraine decreased, but already last year it began to gradually grow again, he suggested that both states work on increasing it in various areas.
"If the President wants and gives the appropriate impetus, I think it would be good for our teams and ministries to work together and see what can be done to increase trade between our states," Zelenskyy said.
He invited Vietnam to join the Joint Communiqué of the Peace Summit, to work on the three points of the Peace Formula discussed at the first Summit, and also to visit Ukraine.
Zelenskyy thanked Vietnam for providing USD 500,000 through international humanitarian organizations and for its willingness to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the end of the war.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy is in the United States this week, where, in particular, he is participating in the UN General Assembly.
On September 26, Zelenskyy intends to present the plan for Ukraine's victory to U.S. President Joseph Biden, as well as U.S. presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
