Law on deferment to half-siblings of fallen and missing soldiers enters into force on September 7

The law, which provides a reprieve for half-siblings of fallen and missing servicemen, entered into force on September 7.

This is stated in the published law, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The document envisages deferment from mobilization for half-siblings of fallen and missing soldiers, not only for full siblings.

The law was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on August 21, five days later it was handed over to the Speaker of the Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, for his signature.

On August 27, the speaker of the parliament signed the document, on the same day the law was handed over to Zelenskyy for signature, who signed it on September 6.

On May 6, the law was published in the official printed publication of the Verkhovna Rada, Holos Ukrainy (Voice of Ukraine).

It enters into force one day after the day following its publication, i.e. September 7.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada intends to grant a reprieve to persons liable for military service under the age of 25 who are deemed unfit for military service in peacetime due to health conditions, and with limited fitness in wartime.
