MPs support ban on mobilization of sick men under age of 25

The Verkhovna Rada intends to grant a reprieve to persons liable for military service under the age of 25, who are deemed unfit for military service in peacetime due to their health, and of limited fitness in wartime.

295 parliamentarians voted for bill No. 11379-d, as a basis, with the minimum required 226.

Member of Parliament from the Holos faction, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, announced this on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The bill proposes to grant a deferral from conscription for military service during mobilization to persons liable for military service up to the age of 25 who were recognized as being of limited fitness during wartime until June 2024.

According to it, servicemen who are conscripted during mobilization and were on the military register of persons liable for military service as those who are recognized as unfit for military service in peacetime due to their health condition, limitedly fit in wartime, and who have not reached the age of 25, may be released from military service if they have not expressed a desire to continue their service.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada wants to correct a conflict in the legislation that allows the mobilization of sick men under the age of 25.
