The Minister of Defense of Spain, Margarita Robles, announced the urgent transfer of the MIM-23 Hawk anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine.
Robles announced this at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein).
According to Robles, Ukraine will receive a full battery of Hawk air defense systems, including six launchers. Currently, they are already on the territory of Poland.
The minister also said that from October 1, Spain will resume the program for the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees and will increase the number of training courses for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The MIM-23 Hawk is an American medium-range anti-aircraft missile system manufactured by the Raytheon Company.
In 2022 and 2023, it became known that Spain provided Ukraine with a total of 12 MIM-23 Hawk launchers.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 15, 2024, Spain announced a new military aid package, within which Ukraine received 10 Leopard 2A4 tanks and anti-tank missiles.
And in June of this year, Ukraine received from Spain the second batch of anti-aircraft missiles for American Patriot air defense systems.
