USA reacts to personnel changes in Ukrainian government and Kuleba's resignation

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken communicated with Dmytro Kuleba after his resignation as head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and expressed his great gratitude and friendship to him.

This was announced by the spokesman of the US Department of State, Matthew Miller.

"I don't have any estimates about what this (personnel changes in the government - ed.) means for the policy of the government of Ukraine. I would, of course, ask the government of Ukraine to talk about it. In any case, it would be inappropriate from my side," he said.

At the same time, Miller noted that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Foreign Minister Kuleba to express how much he had enjoyed working with him over the past few years.

It will be recalled that on September 4, Kuleba submitted a resignation letter to the Verkhovna Rada. Today, September 5, the Verkhovna Rada accepted the resignation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba.

"Minister of Foreign Affairs Kuleba has been an extraordinary partner of the United States in our work in support of Ukraine, in repelling russian aggression and in the fight against russian aggression, as well as in the work we have done to mobilize diplomatic support," he added.

He noted that in a sense, Kuleba was the main partner in trips around the world, trying to get diplomatic support both to support Ukraine and to hold russia accountable.

"I think you've heard both the Secretary of State and the Foreign Minister talk about how sometimes they get together in these meetings and the first thing they talk about is one of them will say, 'I know this country has an anti-aircraft defense system that they could provide if the other country can help them with something else,' and they're actually bargaining to try to figure out how to solve very specific problems that Ukraine is facing," Miller explained.

He added that Blinken expressed his great gratitude and friendship to Foreign Minister Kuleba, and of course that he was looking forward to working with his successor.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, said that on September 4, a meeting of the monomajority faction was held, at which personnel renewal was discussed and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy joined.

In total, the Verkhovna Rada received submissions from Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on the appointment of 8 ministers.
