Zubkovska brings Ukraine second "gold" of Paralympics for long jump

Oksana Zubkovska has won the "gold" of the 2024 Paralympic Games in the long jump competition of the T12 class (athletes with visual impairments).

Oksana won gold in the competition on her fifth attempt — 5.78 meters and a new personal record of the season for the Ukrainian woman.

Zubkovska, 43, has consistently won gold medals in the long jump at the previous four Paralympics. In London-2012, the Ukrainian woman also set the current world record in her class — with a jump of 6.60 meters.

Zubkovska is also a five-time world champion. She won her debut "gold" in 2013, the fifth - in 2023 in Paris.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Oleksandr Komarov won the first "gold" at the Paralympic Games. He reached the finish line in 1:07.77 minutes — this is a new Paralympic record for the S5 class.

In addition, at the Paralympics in Paris, held from August 28 to September 8, 140 Ukrainians will compete in 17 sports. The largest number of Ukrainian Paralympians will be represented in swimming (37). In addition, more than 23% of the members of our national team are debutants of the Paralympic Games.
