Oil transit to Hungary and Slovakia continues. Instead of Lukoil oil, Tatneft raw materials now going there

The export of russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia via Ukraine in July this year remained at a normal level, despite Kyiv's sanctions against Lukoil. The volume of barrels, which are not enough, was filled by the russian Tatneft.

Bloomberg reports this with reference to its own sources.

In July, russia exported 436,000 tons of oil to Hungary and another 356,000 tons to Slovakia. Delivery was carried out in transit through Ukraine.

This data told Bloomberg a person familiar with the matter. She wished to remain anonymous.

Thus, in July, the total volume of deliveries increased and corresponded to the level observed at the beginning of the year.

The interlocutor of the agency said that Lukoil stopped deliveries in July, but Tatneft replaced most of these barrels almost immediately.

Bloomberg noted that the source's data confirmed the statements of officials from Hungary and Slovakia, who previously said they had managed to find a temporary solution to continue the transit of oil from russia.

Recall that on July 18, Lukoil stopped supplying oil through the Druzhba oil pipeline due to the sanctions that Ukraine had imposed against the company before that.

As the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Péter Szijjártó stated afterwards, the cessation of oil transit from the russian federation threatens the long-term security of supplies.

And Slovakia, after Ukraine's decision to introduce sanctions against Lukoil, threatened Kyiv with retaliatory measures.

At the same time, at the end of July, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, said that he called his Ukrainian colleague Denys Shmyhal and offered a "technical solution" for the resumption of oil transit.
