One of the largest russian oil companies, Lukoil, stopped supplying oil to Hungary due to increased sanctions from Ukraine.
This follows from a statement by Bloomberg, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"Last month, Ukraine tightened sanctions against Lukoil, which effectively prohibits the company from using Ukraine as a transit country for its products. Mol Nyrt., a Hungarian energy company, and a russian oil company are working to solve this problem. Ukraine now has a legal situation where on the basis of which Lukoil does not supply oil to Hungary," said Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó after meeting with russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the UN meeting in New York.
At the same time, Lukoil is one of several russian companies that supply oil to Hungary through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline in Ukraine.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, since August 2023, Ukraine has increased the tariff for the transportation of russian oil through its territory through the Druzhba main oil pipeline by 23.5%, or by EUR 4 per ton, to EUR 21 / ton.
