President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that russian dictator vladimir putin does not seek to end the war through diplomatic means. For this reason, dialogue with him is pointless now.
Zelenskyy made the corresponding statement today, August 17, during a press conference.
Zelenskyy emphasized that putin wants diplomacy, but only on the condition that 30% of the territory of Ukraine is transferred to russia.
"Dialogue with Putin is currently pointless, he does not want a diplomatic end to the war," Zelenskyy said.
Recall that on August 17, the American publication The Washington Post reported with reference to its own sources that the military operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast allegedly disrupted secret negotiations between Ukraine and russia.
According to the publication, in August Kyiv and moscow were supposed to send negotiating teams to Doha (the capital of Qatar) to discuss the cessation of strikes on energy infrastructure from both sides.
The next day, on August 18, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the russian federation Maria Zakharova denied the information about the secret negotiations.
Already on August 20, the kremlin announced the impossibility of negotiations due to the offensive of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk Oblast.
