The president of the aggressor country of the russian federation, vladimir putin, ruled out the possibility of any peace talks with Ukraine after the war spilled over into the Kursk Oblast.
This was stated by the dictator's aide Yuriy Ushakov, AFP writes.
"At the current stage, given this escapade, we will not talk," he said.
Ushakov called entering into the negotiation process "absolutely inappropriate" and noted that further negotiations "depend on the situation on the battlefield, including in the Kursk Oblast."
Earlier on Monday, August 19, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the russian federation Sergey Lavrov also made the same statement.
"The president said very clearly that after the attacks on the Kursk Oblast began, not even an attack, but an invasion of the territory of the Kursk Oblast, there can be no talk of any negotiations," he said.
According to Lavrov, putin plans to "give an assessment" of the situation in the Kursk Oblast, where in the second week of the operation, Ukraine already controls more than 90 settlements, "a little later."
According to AFP, on August 19, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his speech at a meeting of heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, called on diplomats to organize the second round of the peace summit this year, saying that "we must force russia with all our might and together with our partners to make peace."
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on June 17, the adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mykhailo Podoliak, said that the aggressor country, russia, could be invited to the second Peace Summit.
On July 29, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said that any war ends with negotiations.
On August 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially confirmed the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk Oblast of the russian federation.
Meanwhile, russia denied conducting indirect negotiations with Ukraine.
