38-year-old security adviser of the British news agency Reuters Ryan Evans was killed by a russian missile attack on the night of August 25 on Kramatorsk.
The head of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) Serhii Tomilenko has announced this.
Thus, the Reuters agency confirmed with deep sadness the death of Ryan Evans, its 38-year-old security adviser, during a russian missile attack on the Sapfir Hotel in Kramatorsk.
"Ryan was an experienced professional, a former British military officer who, since 2022, has helped Reuters journalists cover events in Ukraine and other hot spots around the world. His loss is a huge blow to the agency," the statement said.
In addition, it is known that two more Reuters employees were injured. In particular, according to the NUJU, one employee of the agency is in an extremely serious condition, so far it has been possible to transport him to the intensive care unit in the city of Dnipro.
"The NUJU strongly condemns this next attack by Russian invaders on civilian infrastructure used by journalists and humanitarian workers in front-line zones. Such actions are a war crime and a gross violation of international humanitarian law," Tomilenko said.
The NUJU also demands that the international community increase pressure on Russia to stop barbaric attacks on civilians and media representatives.
"Our condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Ryan Evans," he added.
According to the NUJU, Ryan Evans became the 17th media worker killed in the line of duty since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion. In total, the occupiers killed at least 94 media workers (including civilian victims and those mobilized into the ranks of the defense forces).
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of August 24-25, russian occupiers launched a missile attack on a hotel in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Region, where representatives of foreign media were staying.
It became known that rescuers found a body under the rubble of a partially destroyed hotel. At the time, it was reported that the deceased was a British journalist born in 1984. Four journalists and two local residents were also among the wounded.
