Cabinet suggests Rada legalize creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces in AFU structure

The Cabinet of Ministers has suggested that the Verkhovna Rada legislatively regulate the creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces in the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This is stated in bill No. 11507, registered in the Rada on August 21, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

Corresponding changes are proposed to be made to the Law "On the Armed Forces of Ukraine".

In the explanatory note to the bill, it is noted that it was developed by the Ministry of Defense to implement the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated June 25, 2024, according to which it is planned to create a separate type of forces in the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - the Unmanned Systems Forces.

The purpose of the bill is to increase the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the use of unmanned and robotic air, sea and ground systems, ensuring their readiness for use.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by decree of June 25 put into effect the decision of the National Security Council on the creation of Unmanned Systems Forces as a separate type of forces in the structure of the AFU.

On August 20, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 24 billion for the purchase of drones for the Security and Defense Forces.

Zelenskyy said that in July the Defense Forces used more drones on the front than the russian occupiers.

In December 2023, Zelenskyy said that in 2024 Ukraine would make 1 million drones.
