The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy opposes the introduction of the National Cashback.
This was announced to journalists by a Member of Parliament from the Holos faction, the first deputy chairman of the committee, Yaroslav Zhelezniak, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"We will not allow these changes to be carried out, we will thwart them, the government did not consult with us, I did not see a single conscious person who even said a good word about these changes or this initiative," he said about the committee's reaction to the government's bill on cashback.
According to him, the cashback program introduced by the government is experimental, and the bill will need to be voted on in the Verkhovna Rada for further approval of this program.
He called the idea of the National Cashback "an absolutely idiotic, stupid and populist initiative that has nothing to do with revitalizing the economy."
"It's just from our pocket and a little bit from the pocket of the internationals will give away 3 billion to the wind by simultaneously getting into the bank secret of tax accounts. That's why I don't advise anyone, frankly, to get into this story," he explained.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the procedure for providing monetary assistance to Ukrainians under the National Cashback program, according to which citizens will receive compensation of 10% of the cost of Ukrainian goods purchased by them.
