The Council of the European Union has approved the allocation of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 4.2 billion within the framework of the Ukraine Facility financial instrument.
This is stated in the notification of the Ministry of Finance, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
The funds will be directed to priority social and humanitarian expenditures of the state budget.
Ukraine completed all the measures defined by the Ukraine Facility by the end of the second quarter, which in turn opened the possibility of receiving the corresponding tranche under the instrument.
The Ukraine Facility envisaged nine indicators by the end of June 2024.
In particular, the Ministry of Finance was responsible for the implementation of a number of measures in the budgetary sphere, public investment management and state administration.
The State Budget of Ukraine has already received EUR 7.9 billion under the Ukraine Facility.
Budgetary support from the EU is expected to reach EUR 16 billion in 2024.
The Ministry of Finance fulfilled three conditions under the Ukraine Facility:
- approval of the Budget Declaration for 2025–2027;
- approval of the plan of measures for the implementation of the Roadmap for reforming the management of public investments;
- approval of the Long-Term National Strategic Plan for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization of the State Customs Service.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in June, the state budget of Ukraine received a tranche of unconditional financing (Pre-financing) in the amount of EUR 1.9 billion from the European Union.
