The russian attack on the night of July 31 was not distinguished by anything new, but during it a large number of distracting UAVs were used.
This was reported by the representative of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andrii Yusov, on the air of the telethon.
Thus, the journalist noted that russian bombers took off during the night shelling, but there was no missile fire, which is why various assumptions are spreading in society.
"It is very good when society analyzes the situation and it is clear that different conclusions can be drawn here. In fact, there is nothing new. The enemy has been using combined strikes for a long time. We have witnessed both massive missile strikes and massive drone strikes, and both at the same time," Yusov said.
He noted that this shelling is a continuation of the enemy's search for more optimal ways of using such technology and tactics.
"It can be noted that this time there was a significant number of so-called distraction UAVs, that is, without an explosive part. The purpose of which is to exhaust and study air defense systems. And this is not a new tactic either. The Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces practice and effectively counter such challenges," Yusov said.
We will remind you that on the night of July 31, the russian invaders attacked Ukraine with a Kh-59 guided air missile from the airspace of the occupied Kherson Region and 89 Shahed type UAVs from the Yeysk, Seshcha, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions. The main direction of the attack was the Kyiv Region.
According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, on the night of Wednesday, July 31, russian troops carried out one of the most massive attacks with the help of attack UAVs during the entire war.
Damage to 13 private houses in four districts was recorded as a result of falling debris in the Kyiv Region.
