NACB and SACPO serve ex-MP Vecherko and ex-Deputy Minister of Energy Nemchinov with notices of suspicion of 12 million abuse

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NACB) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SACPO) have served the former Member of the Verkhovna Rada, Volodymyr Vecherko, and the ex-Deputy Minister of Energy, Maksym Nemchinov, with the notices of suspicion of embezzlement of almost UAH 12 million.

Anti-corruption authorities informed the Ukrainian News agency about this.

Mykhailo Voloshyn, the former head of the Ukrvuhillia state enterprise, is also suspected of abuse.

According to the investigation, at the end of July 2022, due to the war, the coal market in Ukraine was limited.

Therefore, in order to ensure a stable heating season of 2022/2023, the Cabinet of Ministers obliged Ukrvuhillia to supply coal to certain electricity producers, in particular to the Centrenergo state energy generating company.

Despite these restrictions, ex-MP Vecherko (owner of Interbis LLC) in collusion with Nemchinov persuaded Voloshyn to sell his company's coal.

It is also noted that the former MP's company owed more than UAH 50 million to the Ukrvuhillia state-owned enterprise.

As a result, Ukrvuhillia supplied the private company with almost 24,000 tons of raw materials, which it resold with a surplus of almost UAH 20 million.

At the same time, PJSC Centrenergo did not receive UAH 12.5 tons of coal and was forced to buy it in October 2022 at a much higher price, overpaying almost UAH 12 million.

The ex-MP and others are incriminated for abuse of this amount.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine passed the heating season of 2022/2023 without purchasing imported coal, fully meeting the needs of thermal generation with domestically produced coal.
