President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that lifting the ban on the use of Western weapons will force russia to seek peace.
Zelenskyy said this during a speech at a meeting of the British government, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Zelenskyy noted that defending against the russian offensive on Kharkiv in May-June, Ukraine proved that it can stop any attempt by russia to expand the war if restrictions on the use of Western weapons against the russian military are lifted.
"As soon as we can strike further than just near the border, particularly at Russian military airfields, we will not only protect ourselves from any Russian offensive, but also secure our forward positions and cities from Russian bombs. Putin is not shy about bombing residential areas, city squares, hospitals and schools. It is impossible to shoot down all of them. And I ask you to show your leadership in this. We need this step - a step that will force Russia to seek peace," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that moscow knows that in London they can make decisions that can bring this war to an end.
He also added that the world should deprive the aggressor country russia of money and the opportunity to produce more weapons.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 18-19, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is visiting the United Kingdom, on July 18 he took part in the summit of the European Political Community and signed two security agreements with the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
