U.S. President Joe Biden has become more receptive to calls to drop out of the race and has called for a poll on Vice President Kamala Harris's chances.
A high-ranking official of the administration has announced this, ABC News reports.
Biden said major donors in New York and California have made it clear to the team that they are not backing down, but have hit the pause button, the official said.
The official noted that the president is exhausted due to COVID-19.
Recall that calls for Biden to withdraw from the election were made after an unsuccessful debate with Donald Trump.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, it became known on July 18 that Biden contracted coronavirus.
At the same time, the Axios publication stated that Biden's close friends are persuading him to withdraw from the presidential race this weekend.
