According to operational data, the volume of funds placed by individuals in bank accounts in hryvnia and foreign currency increased by 2.2% to UAH 1,119.245 billion in May.
This is evidenced by the data of the National Bank, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of deposits of the population in banks has increased by 3.8% from UAH 1,078.346 billion.
Population hryvnias deposits with banks increased by 2.1% to UAH 736.989 billion in May.
At the same time, the volume of foreign currency deposits of the population in the hryvnia equivalent increased by 2.3% to UAH 382.256 billion in the reporting month.
Deposits of legal entities (hryvnia and currency) in May increased by 1.1% to UAH 1,353.310 billion.
The average interest rate on hryvnia deposits (monthly average) in the reporting month for legal entities decreased by 0.7 percentage points to 9% for individuals - by 0.2 percentage points to 11%.
The interest rate on currency deposits for legal entities was 0.9%, for the population - 1%.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, for 2023, the volume of deposits of the population in banks increased by 16.5% from UAH 926.488 billion.
In 2022, population deposits with banks increased by 29.3% from UAH 719.418 billion.
In 2021, population deposits with banks increased by 6.8% from UAH 674.718 billion to UAH 720.932 billion.
