German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has no doubts about the legitimacy of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Baerbock said this at a joint press conference with the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, European Pravda writes.
Baerbock said that Ukraine does not want to be occupied and wants to live freely, and the only one who is against it is vladimir putin, who attacked Ukraine and thus made it impossible to hold elections.
"It is clear that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the rightful and legitimate President of Ukraine. We will solve the tasks before us together," she said, promising to support the reform processes being carried out by Ukraine.
The Minister noted that the constitutions of not only Ukraine, but also many countries, including Germany, stipulate the impossibility of holding elections during martial law.
"This is a very bad game: that the very people who started this war and made the elections impossible are now bringing the narrative to the world about the alleged illegitimacy of the President because he was not re-elected," Baerbock said.
It will be recalled that the head of the German Foreign Ministry arrived in Kyiv on May 21.
